Aoki Center Presents: Mary Louise Frampton "Transforming the Juvenile Justice System" _4/17/2018

Transforming the Juvenile Justice System Can restorative justice challenge those juvenile justice systems that disproportionately impact communities of color and low-income young people? Can it disrupt the school to prison pipeline? Does it have the potential to expose systemic inequities? Are there opportunities for King Hall students to become involved in restorative justice efforts here locally? This talk will focus on an empirical study that gauges the effectiveness of a restorative justice program at the Fresno County Juvenile Court that diverts all young people charged with first time misdemeanor offenses to a restorative justice process.
