Aoki Seminar: Maria Blanco, Executive Director, UC Immigrant Legal Services Center UC Immigrant Legal Services: A Model for Public Universities In 2014 UC President Napolitano funded a pilot program to deliver legal services to immigrant students, undocumented and documented. Four years later, this program has 10 attorneys and serves eight UC campuses. What began as an exciting experiment is now a core services in a period of intense retrenchment and attacks against immigrants. The programs mere existence has become a form of resistance to a federal administration intent on punishing and denigrating immigrants.
